The Native Americans cared for their land took only what graphic resources they needed for survival. It was around the mid 1500s that explorers from Spain came to North America for the first time and in 1565 settled on the celestial orbit of what is now called St. Augustine, Florida. It was not long after these settlers came to North America that the Native Americans were exposed for the first time to the many viral infections that the new settlers brought with them and in 1616 the was a study smallpox bam that killed many of the Native Americans. I would say that this is the first major way the demographics changed in North America after the 1500s. Slaves from Africa were too brought into North America around 1619 and this too caused demographic change. The 1700s brought many changes to North America. The most noteworthy of these changes was war.

The French and Indian war and the American Revolution both took their toll on population size and the environment. During the 1800s there were more wars including the American Civil war, which brought about change for what were once considered slaves. The slaves were now considered to be free and were able to relocate, work and reproduce at the range they wanted to. This event brought about demographic changes to many American cities ( homo atlas.com, n.d.) The 1900s brought about changes by the purchasing of new lands and the world wars. During this time the stack market crash of the 1920s caused changes in the lives of many United States citizens.
